RIFLE SHOOTING.

Christchurch Defence Club’s Series. The Christchurch Defence Rifle Club fired its final series of the two-range aggregate at Tai Tapu on Saturday afternoon. R. H. Neill finished first with D. Murray In second place. Leading totals were: R. H. Neill 457, D. Murray 453, D. Harries 452, D. F. Keir 450, N. Oakley 44 8, F. Hickenbotham 4 45, E. Truman 435, G. Crimp 434, O. W. Sandford 433, 11. Harries 432. The sixth two-range competition was fired over 300 and 600yds, with ten shots at each range. Conditions were very tricky, caused mainly by a southwest wind which prevailed throughout the afternoon D. Murray was the winner with 92 off the rifle, with W. S. Wharton second. Scores were: —

The three-range competition, postponed from January 12, will be fired at Tai Tapu on Saturda.y next, February 23, over 300, 500 and 600yds.
