RECEPTION HELD.
Overseas League Welcomes Dr Bernard Myers. Dr Bernard Myers, C.M.G., a member of the London Council of the Overseas League, was welcomed by Mrs J. Cracroft-Wilson, vice-president and chairwoman of the local committee, and members of the committee of the Overseas League, at a reception held at the Queen’s Club on Saturday morning. After morning tea Dr Myers spoke of the league’s activities throughout the Empire, explaining that its aim is to keep together British people in every part of the world, so that they may live according to the best of British traditions. Mr Norton Francis thanked Dr Myers for his address, and Mr H. L. Bowker, on behalf of the committee, thanked the officers of the Queen’s Club for their courtesy in allowing them the use of a room for the occasion. Those present were: Mr Norton Francis (president) and Mrs Francis, Sir R. Heaton Rhodes, Mrs Hampton Rhodes. Mrs W. Willes. Mrs Hunter Blair, Mrs E. G. Gebbie, Mrs E. T. Chennells. Mrs H. D. Acland, Miss E. Aitken, Mrs W. G. Scannell, Miss E. Wilson, Miss E. Overton, Miss V. Hynes. Mrs H. S. Barker, Mr H. L. Bowker and Mr H. G. Helmore.
