WARMER WEATHER.
Sunny Condition* After Cool Spell.
After a spell of cool weather, yesterday was pleasantly fine, the warm, sunny conditions attracting big crowds ;to the beaches. The sea had not lost I its warmth, and a light westerly breeze was not strong enough to affect sunbathing. A large number of walkers made trips on the hills. The temperature recorded at the Magnetic Observatory at 4 p.m. was 74.5 degrees. To-day was fine in Christchurch, with a strong breeze from the north-east. The temperature at 12.30 was 67.1 degrees.
Tht provision of green feed for the winter is causing concern to farmers on the plains. The scattered showers which fell last week were not enough to encourage growth to any extent, and the grain crops are sadly affected. .'Oi*ffially farmers do not begin to use their hay until May or June, but in some parts animals are already being led on hav. The return of warmer conditions has dashed the hopes of many farmers.
