LAST APPEARANCE.

Kirkman and Taylor at Monica Park. Ken Kirkman and Ray Taylor, the brilliant overseas broadsiding stars, will make their last appearance at Monica Park to-night. They leave on Monday for England. The Monica Park management showed last Saturday how to put through a speedway programme without delay, and to-night in addition to a dirt track programme which includes one special event, there will be a big fireworks display specially prepared for the occasion by the Wainoni Company. The most spectacular feature will be their new creation, “ the magic fountain,” a glittering exhibition of changing colours, gorgeous jets, lights and flashing sparks, but the display will also include many other pyrotechnic features. There will not be any curtailment of the speedway events. Ken Kirkman, whose picture is a present with this week’s programme, Ray Taylor and Charlie Perabo, all overseas broadsiding stars, will figure in the four experts’ match races, and also in the three heats and final of the A Grade Handicap. So far, Kirkman has shown the best consistent form, but Taylor turned on more speed and skill last Saturday, and Perabo in his first race showed a great burst of speed. The three may therefore be expected to produce many real thrills to-night. Taylor will also .be seen, in the longest race at Monica Park to date, in an attempt to lower the four-lap record of lmin 17 3-ssec established a few years ago by the Englishman, Squib Burton A full list of scratch and handicap events, with the special races and the big fireworks display, will form easily the biggest night’s entertainment yet pjt on at Monica Park. If the meeting should have to be stopped before the sixth race on account of the weather passes will be issued for the next occasion. The programme contains particulars of a competition.
