One Man Dead and Two Wounded. ARREST MADE. United Press Assn.—By Electric I Telegraph—Copyright. (Received February 16, 1.15 p.m.) MELBOURNE, This Day. Tragedy marked the opening of the duck shooting season in Victoria when one man was drowned and two wounded Jack White was drowned in a lagoon near Wangaratta. He shot a duck and then rode bareback on the horse into the lagoon. When the horse started to swim. White jumped off after the duck and became entangled in weeds. Ronald Ward, who was seriously wounded, was in the line of fire of his companions, and received pellets in the head, arms and chest. Vincent Girino, shooting ducks from a boat at Green Lake, was shot in the back and neck. Later a farmer of Green Lake, who reported the occurrence to the police, was arrested and charged with maliciously wounding Girino.
