Gatherings Held in Town and Country. BRIDE-ELECT HONOURED. To honour Miss Grace Watt, whose marriage to Mr A. E. Thorn will take place shortly, Mrs J. H. Hill and Miss F. E. Hill were hostesseu at an enjoyable variety evening held at their home, Papanul Road, on Tuesday evening. The evening passed pleasantly with games and competitions, the prizewinners being Mrs F. Bishop, Mrs H. Garrard, Miss N. Hill, Miss M. Hibden, Mr A. E. Thorn, Mr H. Garrard and Mr N. Aldridge. Mr C. T. Bishop was M.C. Those present were: Mesdames H. P. Watt. F. I. Bishop, E. Thorn, H. Garrard and J. H. Hill, Misses Grace Watt, Dolly Cole, Nancy Hill, Molly Hebden, Marcia Baldwin, Noeline Hill and Florence Hill, Messrs G. E. Thorn, E. Watt, C. T. Bishop. F. Bishop, H. Garrard, D. Hill, S. Watt, N. Aldridge, J. H. Hill and H. Bilcliff. Y.w.C.A. Valentin'' Party. Gay red hearts of a ~ering sizes formed the decorative scheme for the v alentine party which marked the opening night of all the clubs of the Y.W.C.A. There was a good attendance of about 150 representatives of all groups of the association. Valentine games, competitions and dancing were enjoyed. Miss B. lawyer was the winner of the Valenparcel. The old-fashioned dance. Sir Roger de Coverly,” was danced bv members of various clubs. A cabaret supper was served with Valentine confections. Announcements of further parties to be held were a moonlight picnic to New Brighton and a •* Do as You Please ” night for seniors. The Girl Citizens* Community Gathering is to be held on Tuesday, March 5. after which clubs will begin their weekly activities. Social Evening. To aid the funds of St Joseph’s fete, a social evening was held at the residence of Mr and Mrs Moran, Godley Avenue, Northcote. Cards and musical items made the time pass pleasantly. The winners at cards were: Mr F. Douglas 1, Mr W. Pope 2; Mr E. Drake, consolation. Vocal items were given by Messrs E. Fielding, F. Douglas, A. Moran and F. Murray. Those present were: Messrs A. Moran, G. Isle. W. Pope, O. Anderson, E. Fielding, sen., E. Drake, J. Shaskey, J. Johnston, J. Law lor, F. Sloroney, M. Perea skey, L. Murray, sen., T. Small and F. Douglas. Kitchen Afternoon. An enjoyable kitchen afternoon was given by Mrs L. H. Robinson at her home in Woolston in honour of Miss Florence Grlebel, whose marriage will take place shortly. Competitions were won by Mesdames G. O. Robinson, H. Brewer and E. Grange, and the guest of honour was the recipient of many useful gifts. Those present were: Mesdames VV. Brewer, G. O. Robinson, L. Molloy, H. Brewer and E. Grange, Misses Florence Grlebel, Florrie Marquet, Eva and Elsie Ducksbury, Hilda and Monica Pye, Edna Downing, Phyllis Dickenson and Mary Brewer.
