Auckland Protests.
Displeased Over Air Trank Services. Per Press Association. AUCKLAND. February 14. r J'HE CHAMBER OF COMMERCE to-day resolved to ask the Transport Co-ordi-nation Board to hear evidence in Auckland or, failing that, in Wellington, air trunk services. Strong exception was taken to the board’s pronouncement that the most important trunk route would be that between Palmerston North and Dunedin. The chairman said that any trunk route that omitted Auckland and Wellington could not possibly give efficient service. The proposal of the Transport Co-ordi-nation Board to grant a license for trunk air services between Palmerston North and Dunedin, thus leaving Auckland and other northern centres to be served by feeder lines, was strongly condemned by v the City Council. It was decided to ask the board to take evidence in Auckland before coming to a final decision. It was pointed out that night flying would not be involved by the longer air trip, as a modern machine could easily make the journey from Auckland to Invercargill in daylight.
