ROAD DEVIATION.
Motorist* Support Cut at Rangitata. A motion expressing the opinion that the proposal of the Main Highways Board to construct a deviation of the Picton-Bluff highway from South Rangitata to Winchester should be proceeded with, unless cogent evidence could be produced to show that the deviation was uneconomical and not in the best interests of Dominion transport. was carried by the executive of the South Island Motor Union last evening. A discussion of the Main Highways Board’s proposals was taken in committee.
