PIGEON FLYING.

Races From Henderson and National Park. The Canterbury Pigeon Flying Club recently flew off a race from Henderson. Seventy-eight birds were sent, divided amongst thirty lofts. The birds were liberated by the stationmaster at noon In fair weather aad a light north-east wind. Owing to the adverse conditions that the birds encountered later, only one bird arrived home In race’ time. The race was open for three days. T he winner of all prizes in connection with this race was J. Baxter’s bird. No. 1552. which flew the distance of 504 miles 1 578yds in 47hr 32min 25sec. with a velocity of 311yds per minute, after deducting the hours of darkness. Race from National Park. The club also flew off a race from National Park. Seventy-seven birds were sent, divided amongst twenty-seven owners. The birds were liberated bv the stationmaster at 6.30 a.m. in calm.‘overcast weather. Eater h strong north-east wind sprang up. which enabled the birds to make good times. The lofts were divided into two sections, east and west. The winner was J. Luke’s bird. No. 107. which flew the distance of 357 miles 75yds in Shi 31min lsec. Following is the result:—
