ATHLETICS.
International Meeting Suggested. AUSTRALIA v. NEW ZEALAND. . The Canterbury Centre of the New Zealand Amateur Athletic Centre met last evening, Mr J. K. Moloney piebiding. On the motion of the chairman, it was decided that it be a remit to the New Zealand conference that an international meeting between Australian and New Zealand athletes be held m New Zealand next year. Mr Moloney said that it was his idea that an Australian team should be invited to visit New Zealand, half the team to tour the South Island and hair to tour the North Island, finance to be arranged by the New Zealand Council. A further remit was that the constitution of the New Zealand Association be revised to enable affiliated centres to have greater voting power in the election of officers. The Wellington Centre's suggestion that, view of the greater attraction of the national and international fixtures that will take place in New Zealand this year, the inter-provincial meeting between Canterbury and Wellington should be postponed until next year was agreed to. The secretary reported that the British and Finn athletes who are touring New Zealand would arrive in Christchurch at 7.20 a.m. on Sunday. February 24. During the day they would be the guests of the centre and would leave Christchurch for Dunedin at 11.2 p.m. They would return to Christchurch at 7.26 p.m. on Thursday, February 28, and would compete at Christchurch on Saturday, March 2. The visitors would leave for Wellington on the evening of March 4. The report was adopted.
The programme submitted .by the Marshland Sports Club for its meeting on March 9 was approved. ,
On the motion of Mr W. Flewellen, it was decided that a message of congratulation be sent to the members ot the New Zealand team on the success of their recent visit to Melbourne for the Centenary games. The New Zealand Association wrote stating that the following athletes had been granted reinstatement: C. R. Burnett (Whangarei), E. T. M. Young (Christchurch), James Tither (Dunedin). H. C. Ludd-Hudson (Dargaville). as from April J. 1935, and J. B. Hargrave (Dargaville).
