Miss Katherine Macdonald, Waikuku, will be in town next week for the Roberton-Morris wedding. Mrs C. Inglis, Cookson Street, Kaiapoi, left last night on a visit to Wellington and Napier. The Hon David Buddo, M.L.C., and Mrs Buddo, Heaton Street, returned from Wellington yesterday morning. Mrs H. M. Dailey and her daughter Miss Gwen Dailey, Park Street, Oxford, have been staying in Christchurch. Mr and Mrs Edgar Lovell-Smith, Riccarton, are spending a holiday on the West Coast. Miss Helena Rooney has returned to Oamaru after an extended holiday in Melbourne and Sydney. Mrs J. Russell Wells, of Ashburton, will leave Ashburton on Thursday next with her husband, Dr Wells, :or a brief holiday in Australia. Dr and Mrs J. F. Duncan and Miss Relda Duncan. Rossall Street, left yesterday to spend a holiday at the Marlborough Sounds. Mr C. Benns, Auckland, and Mr J. Stenning, Hawera, have arrived in Christchurch for the Ell-Jack wedding next Wednesday. Mr and Mrs F. Buchanan and Miss Maud Buchanan, Westminster Street, will leave on Monday for a tour of the United States. Miss Joan Whitcombe. Merivale, is the guest' of Miss Pauline Palmer, Havelock North, following a visit to Mrs C. B. Webster, New Pljunouth. Miss Jean Donaldson, a member of the staff of the Wanganui Public Library, who has been spending a holiday in Christchurch, will leave to-morrow evening on her return north. Miss Eileen Morris, Napier, will arrive in Christchurch early next week for the Roberton-Morris wedding. She will stay with Mrs Crosby Morris, Merivale Lane. Mrs Brown Phelp, Auckland, arrived in Christchurch yesterday for the Rob-erton-Morris wedding, which will take place next week. She is a guest at Warwick House. Mrs E. Vogel and Miss Flora Macdonald have arrived from Wellington for Mifts Joan Cooper’s wedding to Mr R. David next week, and are staying at Warner’s Hotel. Dr and Mrs John Roberton, Auckland, will be visitors to Christchurch next week for the Roberton-Morris wedding. They will stay with Dr H. E. W. Roberton, Bealey Avenue.

Mrs Edmund Cross, Christchurch, has returned from a visit to Tekapo. Mrs Arthur Nicoll, Ashburton, will leave in May for a trip to England. Miss Ngaio Marsh is the guest of Mrs Drummond-Sharp, Woodbury. Mrs John Gray, Paparoa Street, has returned from a holiday spent at Lake Wanaka. Mr and Mrs Harry Menzies, Menzies Bay, have arrived at Christchurch, and are guests at Warwick House. Miss Irene Noyle, Kaiapoi, is the guest of Miss Margaret Somerville, “ Dunsyre,” North Linwood. Mr and Mrs Derek Leslie. England, will arrive to-morrow, and will stay at Warwick House. Mr and Mrs John Reid, Oamaru, will be visitors to Christchurch for the week-end. Miss Kaara Trent, Linwood, is spending a holiday in Timaru, and is the guest of Mrs C. Haselden. Miss Joan Shayle-George, Lyttelton, is the guest of her grandmother, Mrs Shayle-George, Grafton Road, Auckland. Mr and Mrs J. M. Wilkie, Auckland, will be visitors to Christchurch for the Roberton-Morris wedding, and will stay at Warwick House. Mrs R. 11. J. Camm left last evening for Wellington on her way to South Australia. Mr Camm was transferred recently from Christchurch to take charge of the Commercial Bank in Adelaide. Dr and Mrs Walter Hislop, Wellington, will arrive in Christchurch next week for Miss Joan Cooper’s wedding to Mr R. David. They will stay at the United Service Hotel. Dr and Mrs Ernest Roberton, Auckland, will be visitors to Christchurch next week for the wedding of theii son. Dr H. E. W. Roberton, to Miss Elisabeth Morris. They will be the guests of Dr and Mrs Leslie Averill. The friends of Mrs Eva Galbraith, late of Sumner, will regret to hear of her death while engaged in her work of medical missionary in Africa. She endeared herself to all who knew her, and the native population have lost a valuable friend. Miss Eileen Rhodes, eldest daughter of Captain and the Hon Mrs Tahu Rhodes, will be a debutante at Court in June. Miss Rhodes, who is now spending a hohday in Egypt, will be presented by her mother, who first will be presented by her sister-in-law, Lady Plunkd;. Owing to the war, Mrs Rhodes was not presented on her marriage.
