ENJOYABLE OUTING.

Dairymen and Ice Cream Co. Arrange Picnic. The combined efforts of the Christchurch dairymen and the Perfection Ice Cream Company in aranging a picnic held at Leggett’s Farm, Waikuku, were appreciated by the large crowd. The committee and advance guards removed Strawberry and Family (well known identities at the dairymen’s annual ball) from their pastures to make room for the various stalls dispensing ice-cream and drinks necessary ■to revive the enthusiastic competitors in the sports which were run off in professional style under the megaphone of Mr Clive Peat, the official starter, and the sports committee, Messrs R. A. Brown, L. Kench, J. Noonan, M. Ryan and B. Rountree. Results were:— Boys under 6 years—Dennis Gills 1, Hay Chitty 2. Under 10—Keith Watson 1, B. Pratt 2. Under 14—Bruce Harper 1. Ken Rides 2. Girls under 6 years—Coleen Brown 1, Betty Yates 2. Under 10 vears—Bettv Newton 1. Ngaire Noonan 2. Under 14 years—Valmai Harper 1, June Grade 2. Single Ladies’ Race—Miss Clemence 1, Gladys M’Kenzie 2. Married 1 adies’ Race—Mrs J. P. Seull 1, Mrs Stewart 2. Single Men’s Race—F. M'Kenzie 1, F. Brownie 2. Marrid Men’s Race—Mr Gibbs 1, Mr Harper 2. Girls’ Spider Race—J. Yates 1, H. Bassett 2. Boys’ Spider Race—J. Yates 1, R. Riach 2. Ladies’ Wheelbarrow Race—Miss G. M’Kenzie and F. M’Kenzie 1, Miss Burnett and M. Marriott 2. Cutting the Turkey’s Head—Ladies: Miss Algie 1. Mrs Roberts 2. Men; J. Barr 1, J. Brownie 2. Stepping Competition—Ladies: Miss M. Hartley 1. Men; Mr Beck. Ladies’ Nail-driving—Mrs Chitty 1, Mrs Wright 2. Drinking Competition—The Perfection Ice Cream team beat the dairymen's team by a “ swallow,” thus holding the cup for the year. Approximately ISOO ice-creams and 50 gallons of drinks were provided by the committee. Cricket, bathing, and various games were indulged in during the day.
