LEAVING FOR ENGLAND.
Swimmer Fare welled by Clubs. Members of the Christchurch and United Swimming Club and the Taylor's Mistake Surf Club gathered at the West Christchurch baths last evening to bid good-bye to Mr E. M’Conville, who is leaving for England. Mr J. Ballin, on behalf of the Taylor’s Mistake Surf Club, made a presentation and Mr R. D. Harker Brown, on behalf of the Christchurch and United Swimming Club, presented Mr M’Conville with a tobacco pouch. Messrs A. T. Bolam and N. Batchelor spoke of the good work Mr M’Conville had done towards fostering swimming. In reply Mr M’Conville stated that he was sorry to be leaving the clubs as he had had an enjoyable time amongst the members and he hoped to be back in New Zealand before very long.
