ADDINGTON LIBRARY.
Successful Year’s Work Recorded. The annual meeting of the Addington Public Library was held last night, when there was a good attendance of subscribers and representatives of other suburban libraries. Councillors Mabel Howard and T. 11. Butterfield represented the City Council. Mr G. A. Gyde was elected to the chair and welcomed those present. The annual report stated that the library had experienced a very favourable year under the conditions ruling. The number of books placed on the shelves totalled 551, including 133 nonfiction. There were also 257 replacements in the way of new editions. The number of books in circulation totalled 11,117. Credit Balance. The balance-sheet showed a credit of £l2 10s Bd, the receipts being £320 17s 8d and expenditure £3OB 7s. The balance-sheet showed that the assets totalled £1275 12s lOd, including books valued at £IOOO and furniture valued at £250. There were no liabilities. The report and balance-sheet were adopted. Sandford, L. Commons, G. Heaven, M. French, Misses A. Rix and E. Glubb, Messrs G. Gyde, A. Heaven. L. Calder, E. Gyde, P. Gordon, S. Dark, R. Lane. H. Glubb, 11. Allan, J. Morris, J. Colechin, J. Buckley and R. Flintoff. Library Congratulated. Mr Butterfield congratulated the library on its position and also on the appearance of the books and the library generally. He said he thought that he could, as requested, assist the library through the Reserves Committee of the City Council in beautifying the garden in front of the library building. Subscribers and guests of the library were entertained at supper by the ladies’ committee.
