ARLISS AT HIS BEST.
“The Last Gentleman” Heads Plaza Programme. “ The Last Gentleman,” which is now well into its second week at the Plaza Theatre, deserves to rank as one of the best in the long line of superb films in which George Arliss has appeared. It contains some of the finest comedy work seen for some time, and while George Arliss holds most of the spotlight, the supporting cast is a strong one and does really excellent acting. Arliss gives a masterly study of a wealthy and irascible old gentleman whose eccentricities are the horror of his relatives. There is a fine blending of drama, romance and comedy in the film, and it provides thoroughly exhilarating entertainment. The supporting programme is well varied and thoroughly entertaining. Particularly attractive are a Walt Disney Silly Symphony in colour, “ The Flying Mouse”; a novelty sports feature, “Sport in Any Language”: and No. 4 of the “ Unknown Island ” series, showing England’s beauty spots.
