Acceptances for the trotting events at the Vincent. Jockey Club’s jubilee meeting will close on January S. * An inquiry was held into the cause oi the mishap in the Selwyn Handicap at Addington yesterday, and the stewards found that it-was accidental, and so no action was taken. A GOOD MEETING. The Canterbury Park Club concluded its summer meeting at Addington in beautiful weather, and before a good attendance. Splendid fields were seen out in seven events, and the pleasure of the crowd was increased by the success of the favourites, four substantially backed horses fulfilling expectations. The course was in excellent order, and the meeting was well conducted. Speculation was quite satisfactory, the sum of £18,152 10s being recorded on the totalisators as compared with £18,403 for the corresponding day last year. The total of investments for the meeting was £36,326 10s, as against £40,682 in 1934. The three-year-old gelding. Red Glow, who won the Waikaura Handicap at the Oamaru Jockey Club’s meeting, is a handsome horse by Jack Potts from Morning Glow. He has been educated and developed by B. Jarden at Dunedin, and is owned by Mr R. Bee, of South Canterbury, who bred him. A COAST FAVOURITE. Bingen Palm has a stiff task in the Dominion Handicap at Greymouth. where he is called upon to concede a promising field up to 36vds. He is a demon on the four, furlongs dirt course, and for that reason he has a big advantage over the opposition. * * * t'fi Golden Cross has raced particularly well for G. M. Mouritz, and he has shown that he can handle a small course. He reads well off the limit of the Dash Handicap at Greymouth tomorrow. The distance will suit him admirably. * * * * Real Boy won the Hornby Handicap at the Canterbury Park Trotting Club’s meeting yesterday, but was disqualified by the Judicial Committee for galloping in the early stage of the contest. The race was awarded to Sea Gift, with Amonos second and Fairyland third. An appeal has been lodged against the committee’s decision. * * * * Sage King is one of the most consistent pacers in commission, and off the limit of the Intermediate Handicap at Greymouth what beats him should nearly win. LIKES GREYMOUTH. Black Shadow went well at Forburv in November. She won at Greymouth last season and is apt to do so again to-morrow. sf: sjc sje 'sje Sylvia Sydney let her supporters down rather badly at Ashburto*n. She is usually a consistent mare, and if she can handle the four furlongs course at Greymouth she may make amends for her recent disappointment. BRILLIANT PACER. Iraq registered an impressive performance when he won the Middleton Handicap at Addington. His showing made it plain that he is even a better horse than his admirers thought he was, and the way he finished made it obvious that a two-mile journey is well within his compass. He is a four-year-old gelding by Wrack from Edith Chimes, and is a genuine racehorse. A SOLID PERFORMANCE. General Sarsfield ran a splendid race in the Wakanui Handicap, decided over one mile and a half, at the Ashburton Trotting Club’s meeting on Boxing Day. Although he was third, he was only a neck behind the winner in the fastest run mile and a half in a novice event on record. General Sarsfield began smartly, and was always in the picture. His time was 3min 22 2-ssec. At Greymouth to-morrow he is on the limit of a 2min 27sec class, one mile. On his Ashburton performance he should keep the opposition very busy. * S§S sjs Princess Onyx has previously been seen to advantage on the small dirt course at Greymouth, and she is a much better mare than when she last visited the Coast. A CONSISTENT FILLY. Grace M’Elwyn has been responsible for a series of attractive track work, and, as she is racing pleasingly, this level headed filly should be at home on the four furlongs circuit at Greymouth. IS RACING WELL, Dual ran a good race at the December meeting of the New Brighton Trotting Club. He is in a mile race at Greymouth, and his recent showings are good enough to anticipate his winning there. A SPEEDY PACER. Royal de Oro has only to repeat his last season’s form at Greymouth to more than pay his way at the approaching meeting. * # * * Norma Bingen was accorded a good reception when she returned to the birdcage at Addington yesterday after registering her second win at the meeting. She began from 84yds behind over a mile and a half, and the manner in which she gathered her ten opponents and wore them down appealed to admirers of a high-class trotter. She is a very solid mare, and the time she recorded. namely 3min 19 l-ssec, from a 3min 36sec mark, is evidence of the improvement made by unhoppled trotters, for after all, the others made her do it. She is a good looking aged mare by Nelson Bingen from Norma Dillon, and she is owned by Mr F. Doherty. She has been tutored by D. Teahen, who drove her with fine judgment in her recent successes.
