Man Who Once Owned London Business. United Press Assn.—By Electric Telegraph—Copyright. (Received January 3, 1.45 pm.) LONDON, January 2. Charles William Channaw, aged sixtythree, of Camden Town, an artist, who lost a big city business after his father left him £20,000, was fined 5s at Hampstead for mendicancy. He possessed sixpence, two boxes of matches, and a note from Bernard Shaw scribbled on the back of a sketch which Channaw sent him, and reading: “If you can draw like this, why sell matches?” Channaw was offered £4 for the sketch but he demanded £ls.
