CHRISTMAS PARTY.
Held at Brighton Free Kindergarten.
The New Brighton Free Kindergarten Association held a successful Christmas party in the Methodist Schoolroom yesterday afternoon. Members of the Christchurch executive present were:
Mesdames H. T. J. Thacker, J. R. Evans and Keith Hadfield; and other visitors were Mesdames Rodda. Page, S. Bailey, Anderson, A. Boon. Bellamy and Goodman, Misses Hull (director), Parsons and Godfrey, and the Rev S Bailey.
After Mrs Thacker (president) had addressed the gathering and extended the season’s greetings and good wishes for the New Year, an enjoyable programme was presented by the children. The items were followed by the arrival of Father Christmas (Mr T. Adnams), who distributed toys from a well-laden Christmas tree. On behalf of the committee and mothers, Mrs 11. A. Bishop (convener of the committee) presented a case of stainless knives to Miss J. Hood, who is shortly to be married, and a crystal honey jar to Miss M. Page, the other teacher. The Rev S. Bailey eulogised the work done in kindergartens and wished them continued success. Mrs Bishop thanked those present for attending. and afternoon tea was served. Bouquets -were presented to Mesdames Thacker, Evans, Hadfield, Bishop and G. Bundy (secretary and treasurer) and Miss Hull by the following children : —Shirley Sharplin, Ngaire Adams, Angela Edwards, Noel Cusack, Maureen Shaw and Beverly
