Breweries Again Rise. MARKET VERY STRONG. SALES LIST SHOWS MARKED IMPROVEMENT The sales list took a turn for the better this morning, and a substantial amount of business was put through, several dealings being made in issues which had had a long absence from active quotations. Prices generally were firm at late rates. Buyers appeared throughout for the 4 per cent Government issues, and sell ers came in in some places. Business was slack, however, though quotations were maintained at recent levels. Bank of Australasia, in their first dealings this month, registered an advance of 4s, and there were further buyers at the sales price of £ll ss, sellers going off the market. Reserve were steady from £6 10s 6d to £6 11s fid, and National of New Zealand (cumdividend), had buying requests at 72s 6d against sellers Is higher. A New South Wales seller came down 2s 6d below £32, but no business resulted. There were much freer quotations in the insurance section, with no sign of a diminishing demand. Sales in this division have been few in recent weeks, and those reported this morning—of South British at 96s—were the first in that issue since August 29, when the price paid was 84s. Further buyers today offerered 9os, sellers not coming on the market. New Zealand Breweries made another sharp rise, and after yesterday afternoon’s dealings at 50s, sold up to 50s 9d, with the demand still unsatisfied, and sellers asking sls 6d. Tooths w-ere strongly held between 50s and 51s 3d. Among miscellaneous issues, Amalgamated Wireless (14s paid) were again wanted at firmer rates than ever, buyers offering up to 40s, and sellers standing out for 5s more. British Tobacco again had dealings on a falling market, and after sales, there were more on offer at 41s 6d, buyers dropping 2d below. Dunlop Rubber had a w'eaker seller, and Electro. Zinc ordinary shares were on offer at 24s without buyers. New Zealand Paper Mills made 6d in their first business since October 8. In the mining section, ‘Mount Lyell were firm, King Solomon and Skippers remained unchanged; but Gillespie’s Beach dropped fractionally, and Mahakipawa were on offer at BJd. Worksop Extended had quotations from ?s 9d to 3s. In the unlisted section, Woolworths (N.Z.), Lid., ordinary shares again sold at 79s 3d.

Reserves retained recent firmness, and after a sale 6d higher, at £6 11s, the market stood between £6 10s 6d and £6 11s 3d. New Zealand* were quietly firm from 48s 6d to 48s 9d. A healthy demand existed for Government stocks, with more buyers than sellers and late quotations were maintained. In the mining division, sellers of King Solomons slipped hack to 3s lOd, and Waihis were quoted between 37s and 38 s. Broken Hill Proprietary shares were firm, with buyers at 53s and sellers asking Is 6d higher.
