A complaint by the Auckland Returned Soldiers’ Association that the administrative costs of various war funds, including the National War Funds. Canteen Funds, Red Cross Funds and Patriotic Funds, were unduly high, was not supported by the executive of the Christchurch R.S.A. last evening The president (the Rev F. T. Read) said that so far as Canterbury was concerned there was full co-operation between all the funds and the administrative expenses were not high. Mr W E. Leadley said there was no fund in N'ew Zealand with a lower administrative cost than the Canteen Funds. The expenses of the War Funds Council were also very low and no investigation could reduce these expenses. A motion was passed that the letter be “received” and no action taken. To-morrow night, an amusing and entertaining set of short plays and scenes will be presented in the Navy League Hall by senior members of Miss Lucy Cowan’s Elocution School. An evening of holiday humour is promised patrons.
