SCOTTISH SOCIETY.

The monthly Ceilidh of the Scottish Society was held on Thursday evening. Chief G. M. Telfer presided, supported by Chieftain R. M. Speirs. Chief Telfer extended a warm welcome to the large attendance of members and friends, and also to Chief Millar, of the Timaru Society. He said he hoped that Chief Millar's visit would be the forerunner of many more visits. Chief Millar suitably replied. The programme for the evening was arranged by Councillors J. Williamson and J. Wills. Miss Alice G. <.ibb was accompanist and Pipe-Major J. M’l.achlan was piper for the Highland dancing. At the conclusion of the programme. Chieftain R. M. Spiers moved a vote of thanks to the artists and promoters. Mrs Creagh supplied the music fo JL dance which followed. The following items were given: Opening ode. Miss Bettv Munro; selection.
