Evans Bay Trophy Won by H. Hannah. H. Hannah, in Rascal, won the Evans Bay Trophy in a race heicP at Lyttelton on Saturday. The event attracted seventeen starters. There was a northeast wind, which later changed to easterly, veering round again to north-east for the finish of the race. From a good start. Christchurch Club. Rita (Ft. Beveridge) won the Christchurch Sailing and Power Boat Club's combined class sailing race on the Kstuarv on Saturday. Eighteen boats started. A light easterly anti 1 flat viater suited the lighter boats. The course mhs twice to Skylark and once to Avon. ' The boats started at 3.15. 011 a making tide. Rita did best on the first run to Skylark, and at the tripod the first time round led Fidget by 45sec, > Gadfly rounding about 30see later. The second time round the tripod*, Beveridge, had increased his lead from Fidget to; nearly four minutes. A freshening wind and the strong incoming tide caused most of the boats difficulty on tlie beat to the finishing line, but Rita crossed more than five minutes ahead of Fidget. As a result of Betty and Eileen having been withdrawn owing to differences of opinion betw r een the boat owners and the association, only Val and Squib took part in the final Sanders Gup trial held on Saturday, the former winning by about, a minute and a half. The boat and crew to represent Otago will be announced during the week.
