Alexander Mines return for November: 336 tons crushed for 150 oz melted j ~ old - Cyanide process, 279 tons of sands treated for 590 z Isdwt of bullion. Concentrates: Roaster produced 1450 z 14dwt of an estimated value of £2338 10s. In addition, concentrates have been saved valued at £334. GORE, This Day. The Waimumu washup is l6oz 3dwt ; for the fortnight. Owing to the shorti age of water, half time only was work- ! ed - The mine is being closed till after the holidays owing to the dry weatliter. Snowy River. The Snowy River wash-up on December 7 was 12oz 13dwt; on November 21, 13oz 13dwt. A shaft is now being put down to test flat land. Glenroy Gold, Ltd. The secretary of Glenroy Gold. Ltd., reports that in completing the alterations a total of 28oz has been returned. KTevia Diesel Co. The secretary of the Nevis Diesel Electric Dredging Co., Ltd., advises that Investigations, Ltd's, boring crew has now started boring. Last week-end representatives from both companies visited the Nevis and decided on the location of ten bores and the remaining ten to be decided later. Brian Boru. GREYMOUTH, December 9. The Brian Boru dredge return last week was lOoz 4dwt for 84 hours’ work, and 10,500 cubic wards. The short time worked was owing to bush fires burning the head line aerial, and also causing fire around the transformer. Continued drought is adversely affecting most of the gold mining activities and some sawmills and pastures. Scrub fires are general. Big River Co. Big River G<old Mines, Ltd., report for the week ended December 6 is as follows: No. 3 Crosscut.—Distance driven, sft. The slate country is again out. Hard grey sandstone in the face. No. 4 north drive: Total distance driven, 67ft. Reef still maintaining width and appearance. The stope is also good. Gold seen every day in both places. No. 4 sooth drive: Total distance driven, 45ft. The reef is now Sft 6in wide. The visible gold lias greatly increased in the last three feet of driving. Battery.—A cloud burst over the ! watershed of the dam, and gave us suf--1 fieient water to keep working one shift these last four da vs. It will be exhausted to-day. Talisman Dubbo Gold Mines, Dtd. The Talisman Dubbo mine manager's report for the fortnight ended December 1 states:— Talisman No. 1 Level.—Drive south advanced 17ft, total 450 ft. The lode from 445 ft to 450 ft is 30in wide, of which IBin is saved, the balance being clay and rubble. Stoping—The ore broken in the stopes came from 200 ft south to 300 ft south. About 50 per cent of the lode broken out was discarded I for filling purposes, and only clean I selected quartz of good value sent to | the battery. The ventilation of these • stopes has been greatly improved since j the connection has been made with the | older northern stopes. M'lntyre's leader | —The drive on the veins of quartz was timbered for 20ft. A stope has been j broken out above this timber for a | height of 10ft. The work is on the | eastern vein, which is about lin wide. | A sample of the vein taken over a ! length of Bft shows the quartz to be I very high grade.
