TRENTHAM TRACK. K Despite the long spell of fine weather that the Valley has recently been enjoying, the tracks and grounds at Trentharn will be green and in fine order for the “’ellington Racing Club's Royal meeting on Saturday week, says the Wellington “ Post." The club some months ago purchased in Australia four automatic sprinklers, which are now operating round the course proper every night, throwing on the track the equivalent of 10 points of rain. so that the nature of the going on race day should cause no concern for owners and trainers with horses to be raced afterwards during the holidays. Besides these special sprinklers, which auto: matically travel 500 feet of the track each set at an unobservable rate of progress, the club also has its usual sprinklers operating in the birdcage and on the lawns, which at present are looking in beautiful order. Recent improvements to the caurse include the erection of a new band enclosure. the installation of perman’nt broadcast facilities, and the painting of all the lences. LIABLE TO PENALTIES. Acceptances for the Auckland Cup and Railway Handicap, also for other first day events at Ellerslie are not due until Friday week. Candidates for the Auckland double who win a race are liable to be re-handicapped. \VHY HE WAS NOT IN LIST. \_ Limarch was nominated for the Auckland Cup but he was not handicapped. He was scratched on Friday {or allrengagernents at the Auckland meeting. It will be remembered that he was injured in the Spring Stakes at Randwick on Derby day. It was through .the interference that. caused these injuries that J. E. Pike was suspended and thereby lost the mount on Peter Pan in the Melbourne Cup and other Victorian races. There was one at Lingfield Park (Englandi, on October 20. Sea Joy, 3 four year-old mare. and Sea Light. a. fiveyear—old gelding. were matched at level weights over five furlongs. Sea Joy led throughout and won by five lengths. There was good betting on the match. All Epsom was loyal to L Sea. Joy while Newmarket went solidly ‘ for Sea Light. 1
