MOTHERS’ LEAGUE.
Lady Bledisloe’s Interest Appreciated. WELLINGTON, December 4. Arranged by the Wellington provincial branch of the League of Mothers in honour of Lady Bledisloe, Dominion President of the League, the farewell gathering at the Town Hall to-day was a wonderful demonstration of the affection in which she is held. Mrs Charles White, president of the provincial branch, and Mrs J. S. Elliott, voiced the general regret that Her Excellency was leaving and spoke of the great interest she had taken in the work begun by the Lady Alice Fergusson. On behalf of all the provincial branches her Excellency was presented with a case for photographs, made of New Zealand wood and hand-painted. Lady Bledisloe said that ever since she entered the Dominion she had been deeply impressed with the usefulness of the league. It would be one of her delights on returning Home to report favourably to the Lady Alice on its progress and the high value "to the community of its beneficient work. She assured the gathering of her continued interest in the league, for whose high ideals and aims she had great admiration. Mrs Ernest Dawson, Dominion secretary, gave Lady Bledisloe a message from the 6500 members of the League to the Lady Alice Fergusson.
