MISSION FAILS.

No N.Z. Trade Agreement With Australia. PACIFIC SHIPPING PROBLEM. United Press Assn. —By Electric Telegraph—Copyright. (Received December 1, 12.20 p.m.) CANBERRA, This Day. Complete failure attended the conference of the New’ Zealand delegation and representatives of the Commonwealth on trade matters. When the deliberations concluded last evening disappointment was expressed by the representatives of both sides at the abortiveness of the negotiations. The Trade Conference did not discuss the question of assisting British shipping in meeting American competion in the Pacific, but it is likely that there will be some discussion on this matter before the New Zealand delegation leaves Canberra. The following official statement W’as issued by Sir Henry Gullett, chairman of the conference, and the Right Hon J. G. Coates, leader of the New Zealand delegation: “The delegates, after exploring all matters bearing upon the proposals made for a comprehensive amendment and improvement of the existing trade treaty between the two dominions, decided that at the present time and under the existing circumstances an agreement could not be reached. The conference has therefore closed, although there are a few minor matters which may be further considered before the New Zealand delegates leave Australia.”
