25,000 IN CONGREGATION.
Eucharistic Congress to Be Opened on Sunday. MELBOURNE, Noveniber 30. Prelates of many nations are now assembled at Melbourne for the opening of the Eucharistic Congress at St Patrick’s Cathedral on Sunday, when Cardinal Macßory will celebrate Pontifical High Mass in the presence of more than 50 Archbishops and Bishops. The service promises to be the most spectacular ever held in Melbourne. Arrangements are being made for a congregation of about 25,000. The normal seating of the Cathedral is about 3000, but extra accommodation is provided and about 20,000 will be able to hear the service in the Cathedral grounds, where amplifiers will be installed. Many events of the Congress arranged for next week include as the central feature the Congress Eucharistic procession on Sunday.
