During the committee stage in the j House of Lords on the Incitement to Disaffection Bill. Lord Allen of Hurt- | wood said that it had recently come to his knowledge from a source he had j no reason to doubt that there was j some kind of a movement afoot in j Great Britain to seize the 8.8. C. and j bring about a coup d’etat similar to i the one prepared by the Nazis in Vienna. „ i Interviewed by the “ Daily Herald. | of which he was formerly director, j Lord Allen refused to say whether the j plan came from the Right or the Left; ! but he said that it was seriously discussed by one of the parties which believed in unconstitutional action. He did not think the plans had progressed beyond the stage of contemplation. The House of Lords spent nearly twelve hours discussing the Bill, numerous divisions being forced bv the Socialists on amendments, all of which were defeated. The committee stage was completed.
