Careless Cyclis

Dear Sir.—As one who. under the stress of economic circumstance, has lately returned to the bicycle in place of the motorcar. I have been disagreeably impressed with a practice that is very fully charged with danger to those adopting it. I refer to the practice of cyclists of cutting through between other cyclists and the kerb, in defiance of a universal rule of the road that a person passing another must pass on the outer side. I myself, as an exmotorist and as a cyclist, do not expect traffic from behind to come up on my left, but apparently small boys to-day are not taught this rational rule, and I can only say that their ignorance may be fraught with physical injury to themselves if they persist in it.—l am. etc., 1873.
