Destructor Smoke.
Dear Sir. —I was amazed this morning while sunning myself on the balcony of a hotel to note the filthy pall of smoke that issued in suffocating and unhealthy clouds from your local destructor. I am told that this has been an unwelcome feature of Christchurch for years As the. prevailing wind here seems to be a fairly strong easterly, this nuisance is hard to understand. Cannot the council do something? —I am. etc., VISITOR.
