That where the house of a returned soldier was taken over by the Lands Department and resold, the then occupier should be given an opportunity of buying back the property at its new valuation, was the text of a motion passed by the Christchurch Returned Soldiers’ Association last night. The association was urged to take the matter up with the Government. The secretary (Mr E. F. Willcox) stated that in many cases the Lands Board had given favourable consideration to the association's representations: but other cases of hardship were not reported to the association until it was too late for remedial action.
