PERRY BEATEN AGAIN.
English Lawn Tennis Players at Rotorua. Per Press Association. ROTORUA, November 7. The visiting English tennis players played exhibition matches at Rotorua to-day, but unfortunately part of the programme had to be abandoned, owing to rain. In two straight sets Hughes beat Perry, 7-5, 6-3, after an exhibition in which Hughes appeared to be on his top form, but Perry was patchy. Neither Perry’s backhand nor forehand was entirely reliable, and Hughes Avon on his mistakes. In the ladies’ doubles match Miss Dorothy Round, playing with Miss N. Beverley, Matansata, was beaten by Misses Dear man and Lyle, 6-2, 7-5. The team left this evening for Wellington and will cross to Christchurch on Thursday night.
