CARNIVAL WEEK RACING.

Canterbury Cup Won Easily by Sporting Blood. HAZOOR IN SECOND PLACE. T>\ A. GOOD MARGIN, Sporting Blood won the Canterbury Cup at the Canterbury Jockey Club’s meeting at Riccarton to-day. He was first favourite on both machines. Hazoor, ourtli fa\ourite, was second, witii Polvdora, second and third favourite, a neck away third.

There was a large attendance at i the meeting. The weather was fine and pleasant but for a cold wind. The track was fast. Revision, sixth and seventh favourite, won the Port Cooper Brush Hurdles Handicap by half a length from Monastic, third and first favourite. Lycidas, fourth favourite on both machines, was third. Kinnoull won the Spring Nursery Handicap from Penelope by a length, with Bun Fight half a length away in third place. Kinnoull was second favourite on both machines, Penelope third favourite and Bun Fight fourth favourite. Results:—

FAVOURITES BEATEN

Revision Improves on Recent Form. Free Air (£l9B 10s and £213 10s) and Red Sun (£167 10s and £234 10s) were best supported in the Port Cooper Hurdle race. Red Sun led past the judge's box the first time from Monastic, Free Air, Revision and Hounslow. The last-named had charge entering the back from Monastic, Red Sun, Revision and Coll, with Lycidas last. Monastic ran up to Hounslow and, outjumping him, took the lead. Lycidas then made a forward move and took third place at the six furlongs to Monastic and Hounslow, with Revision, Coll and Vitaphone next. Monastic led over the last two hurdles from Hounslow, Lycidas and Revision. Monastic was still in front at the first winning post, but Revision then got through on the rails and won by half a length, with Lycidas half a length away. Yitaphone and Hounslow were next. Revision and Lycidas both improved on their form in the Spring Hurdle-race. Revision, w'ho is trained at Blenheim by R. Reardon for Mrs W. A. Fuller, carried £7O and £l2O 10s. Spring Nursery Handicap. Silver Sail, with £568 and £378. was a solid favourite for the Spring Nursery Handicap. He missed the jumpout. Bun Fight. Penelope, Rompalong and Kinnoull were prominent early. Bur. Fight led on to the course proper from Kinnoull, with Penelope. Hine Ra. Rompalong and Silver Saji next. Kinnoull and Penelope drew up to Bun Fight at the first winning-post. Kinnoull saw it out best and won, drawing

| away, by a length from Penelope, with Bun Fight half a length away. Rompalong and Silver Sail were next. Kinnoull is by a new sire, the Hunting Song horse, Pink Coat, whose son. Sil--1 ver Coat, won twice at Wingatui last month. Kinnoull, who has started four • times, was successful in the Oamaru Trial Stakes. He was bred by his owner, Mr D. Grant, president of the South Canterbury Jockey Club. lie is trained at Washdyke by J. W. Pankhurst, a brother of E. Pankhurst, who trained the New Zealand ('up winner, l Stecton.
