Women Cricketers’ Visit. Whether the Cricket Association would be justified in playing competition games on the back grounds at Lancaster Park while a match against the English team of women cricketers was in progress on the oval, was a question brought up at the meeting of the Canterbury Cricket Association last night. One member stated that the playing of matches on the back grounds would scarcely be fair; and another raised a laugh by declaiing that there would be great difficulty in getting umpires and scorers for those games. No decision was reached on the matter. Watson’s Endurance. H. G. Watson, one of New Zealand's, representatives in the Centenary l Thousand cycle race at Melbourne, wrs disappointed not to win the race, although he finished second, states the Mayor (Mr D. G. Sullivan, M.P.), in a recent letter. Watson, continued Mr Sullivan, was a good sport, and the Melbourne papers spoke highly of his courage and endurance over the mountain part of the race. Some of the foreign riders said that that part of the
course was the worst they had ridden over. “ New Zealand is well r*present ed here." Mr Sullivan says, “ what with our flyers, cyclists, rowers and horses (and mayors).”
