POULTRY CLUB.
Arrangements Made for Field Day. The New Zealand Utility Poultry Club held a meeting in the Chamber of Commerce Hall last evening, Mr W. Turner presiding. A motion of sympathy was passed with Mr J. W. M’Glinchy in his bereaveA hearty welcome was extended to Mr H. Tabart, of Oamaru, a very successful competitor at the egg-laying competitions. The Prime Minister wrote stating that he would make an effort to attend the field day. The Minister of Agriculture intimated that he was unable to be present: Mr R. W. Hawke. M.P.. wrote stating that he would attend; Messrs P. R. Climie, organiser of the Progress League. stated that he would attend: the Right Hon J. G. Coates, M.P., stated that he was unable to be present; the Deputy-Mayor intimated that he would attend, as did Mr F. C. Brown, chief poultry expert, and a large number of others invited.
The Education Committee reported on the last educational meeting which was addressed by Mr C. Cussen. poultry expert. On Saturday a debate would be held on the Dominion Mark scheme, with Mr F. C. Brown and Mr S. F. Marshall as speakers, in the Y.M.C.A. rooms.
The Management Committee reported that a visit was paid to the tests and everything was in good order. A hearty vote of thanks was extended to Messrs J. Brennan and W. Turner for the plates of pen numbers to indicate the various tests.
The secretary gave a. report on the arrangements made for the field day to be held on Saturday afternoon. The Canterbury Egg Export Committee would give a demonstration of packing eggs for export and explanations will b« made as to the reason for rejects and the right kind of egg required for export.
