English Beauty Who Married Millionaire. RESIDENCE IN RENO. (Special to the “ Star.”) CHICAGO. October 2. Beautiful Mrs Marshall Field (the former Mrs Dudley Coats), who is the English wife of one of the world’s richest men. is about to file a suit for divorce. She arrived in Reno, Nevada, “ the City of Quick Divorce,” after flying from New York. Shortly afterwards, her attorney, Mr William Woodburn, announced officially that she had come to the divorce city to establish residence for the necessary six weeks, after which she would file a suit for divorce. Mrs Marshall Field is now staying at the home on the outskirts of Reno of Mr George Thatcher, of the firm of Thatcher and Woodburn, the lawyers who are acting for her. She refused to comment on her divorce plans. Her lawyer declared that he did not yet know on what charges his client would base her suit. Mr Marshall Field’s fortune has been put at many millions. He is the son of a famous Chicago “ store king.” His wife, when she lived in London, was one of its loveliest women. She was Miss Audrey James. Her mother, the late Mrs Willis James, was perhaps the most famous of Edwardian hostesses. Miss James was married first to Captain Dudley Coats, Scots Guards, a member of the millionaire cottonthread family. Captain Coats died in 1927. llis widow married Mr Marshall Field at Marvlebone Register Office. London, in 1930. She was then twenty-eight. They have a magnificent estate on Long Island, New York. Mrs Marshall Field’s brother. Mr Edward James, was formerly the husband of Miss Tilly Losch, the dancer. Mr Marshall Firld’s former wife obtained a divorce at Reno in 1930. Alimony was fixed at £200,000. The former Mrs Field was said to lie the most heavily insured woman in the world. Her policies totalled £600,000.
