CALLOUS LYNCHING.
Negro Murderer Savagely Put to Death. NEW YORK, October 29 | With consummate brutality, Claude Neal, a negro, confessed murderer of Lola Cannidy, 18 years of age, of j Greenwood, Alabama, was lynched tonight. Early to-day a mob overpowered the j gaoler in the village of Brewton. i Alabama, and kidnapped the prisoner. 1 whom they hid during the day. Meanwhile they placarded the countryside with invitations “ to all white folks to attend the slaying as soon as it gets dark.” Thousands gathered. The dead girl’s father was invited to give the first pull on the rope which swung Neal skyward. Bullets riddled the body, which was stoned and mutilated.
