GERMANY SPREADS WINGS
Feverishly Pursuing Every Kind of Armament. LONDON, October 29. Startling allegations regarding Germany are made in a book, “ Hitler Rearms,” edited by Miss Dorothy Woodman, says the Daily Mail, although Miss Woodman admits that documentary proof of many of the assertions made is lacking. It is stated that greatly increased subsidies have been expended on unnecessary elaboration and expansion of civil air lines. The number of pilots trained greatly exceeds requirements. The new multi-engined Heinkel monoplane, which has a cruising speed of 210 miles an hour, is, like others, a potential night bomber. It has a radius i of 630 miles, with an extra carrying ; capacity of 20001 b. The Junkers firm supplied the same ; type of aeroplane for the Japanese Air Force as is used by Lufthansa for civil aviation, bx:t in Japan it carries eight machine-guns, two aeroplane guns and two tons of bombs. Germany, according to the book, possesses the most modern and efficient machines, especially for military purposes and is secretly producing others. The Rohbrach works informed an intending buyer of seaplanes that armament and military equipment could be installed in them according to the accompanying directions. What is alleged to be a facsimile of General Goering’s air programme to May provides for the construction of 300 military aeroplanes and 6600 engines. Germany, working for a year at full capacity, could produce an air fleet superior to that of France. She is feverishly pursuing every kind of armament, including poison gas, one variety of which is effective against any gas mask known.
