Miss D. Stubbs, Wai-iti Road, Timaru, is on a visit to Christchurch. Eileen O’Meeghan, Timaru, is visiting Miss Agnes Barrett, Papanui. Mrs H. A. Reese, Hawarden, are visiting Christchurch for Cup Week. Mrs E. Jekyll, Ilororata, is spending a holiday at Akaroa. Miss Gladys Connolly, Timaru, is visiting Christchurch for race week. Miss Nancy Colt, Blenheim, arrived in Christchurch last evening, and is the guest of Mrs R. W. Morrow, Fendalton. Mrs T. A. Francis, Dunedin, is visiting Mrs E. G. M’Cullough, Bealey AveMiss, Evaline Woolford, Springfield, is a visitor to Christchurch for raceweek.

Miss Ethel LeCren, Evans Street, Timaru, is the guest of Mrs Moray Smith, Christchurch, for Cup Week. Mrs E. J. Brown, North-east Valley, Dunedin, is the guest of her brother and sister-in-law, Mr and Mrs A. J. Smith, Durham Street, for race week. Mrs C. R. N. Mackie has returned to Christchurch after a month’s holiday spent at Lake Rotoiti, Nelson, Marlborough and Kaikoura. The Rev W. H. Norton and Mrs Norton, who were the guests of Mrs J. Norton, Rhodes Street, Timaru, have returned home to Papanui. Mrs V. H. Waters and Miss Betty Waters, Wellington, have returned home after spending some time at Christchurch, Auckland and Napier. Dr James Cowie and Dr Helen Cowie, who have been on a trip to England, will return to Wellington by the Ruahine, due on Wednesday next. Miss Cara Johnston, daughter of Mr Justice Johnston, will return to New Zealand from England by the Ruahine,# due in Wellington on Wednesday next. Mrs C. Walker, Eketahuna, who has been visiting Ilanmer Springs, will return to Christchurch to-day to be the guest of Mrs Ivan Wood, Beverley Street. Miss Ruth White, “ Eastney,” Eketahuna, will return to Christchurch today after a visit to Ilanmer Springs, and will stay with Miss Joyce MacGibbon, Fendalton. Miss Phyllis Agar, Colombo Street North, who has been staying in Wellington following a visit to Miss Audrey Matthews, Wairarapa, returned home this morning. Mr and Mrs Alexander Ramsay, Eiffelton. Ashburton, are the guests of Mr 'and Mrs J. T. Oakley, Belladonna, Western Terrace, Beckenham, for Car-nb-al Week. ' Mr and Mrs Gerald Sherman, who have been living at St Elmo Courts since t their arrival from America, have taken Mr and Mrs W. M. Dearsley’s house, Ilelmore’s Road, for a year. They will take up residence on Saturday. Mr and Mrs 11. Winston Rhodes, Innes Road, accompanied by Mrs T. Rhodes, will leave to-morrow evening for Wellington. They will sail by the Marama on Friday for a holiday visit to Australia. They expect to be away until next February. Miss Merle Cunningham, Sumner, who is studying at the Royal Academy of Music, London, was selected to play at an Academy concert recently held in London. Miss Cunningham gave Schumann’s “ Finale ” from “ Carnival Jest from Vienna.” She is also making good progress with her ’cello work, which she is taking for her second study.
