HAGGIS AND OATCAKE.

Brought From Scotland to Centenary. Genuine Scottish haggis and oatcake and heather from the Trossachs formed an important part of the baggage of Mr W. Morrison, an executive councillor of the St Andrew Society of Edinburgh, who arrived in Melbourne a week or two ago to attend the Centenary celebrations. Mr Morrison is the official representative of the Edinburgh branch of the Overseas League, from which he brought a large wreath composed of red and white heather in the form of a St Andrew’s cross surmounted by a crown. The wreath, which was constructed from heather gathered in the Trossachs, in the centre of Scotland, was kept in the refrigerated chamber of the steamer during the voyage. It will be placed on the Shrine of Remembrance on Armistice Da>'. This enthusiastic Scot, who is also the vice-president of the Clan Morrison, the Hebridean clan, brought with him fifty helpings of haggis and oatcake. “It will help to remind my Scottish friends in Australia of their homeland,” he said. “ It is an ancient Scottish custom to always bring a gift as a mark of appreciation.”
