BEACH RACING.
Canterbury Club’s Meeting at North Brighton. The Canterbury Auto-cycle Club held their first beach race meeting at North Beach to-day. The cour.se was in splendid order, but a strong wind slowed the riders down. Events were keenly contested and a feature of the racing was the number of novice riders. The first two races were over a mile course, and the final event over a two-mile course. The following wiere the results:— Eight-mile Novice Handicap—S. Meechen (20sec) 1, A. Cooper (15«ec) 2, -W. Rosengrave (40see) 2. Times— Smin 16sec, Smin 31sec, Bmin 32sec. Twelve-mile Open Handicap—A. Flitcroft (60sec) 1. A. Cooper (20sec) 2, G. Murphy (1355e0) 3. Times —13min 24 1-r.sec, 12min 40sec, 14min 48 4-ssec. Twenty-mile Open Handicap—S. Meechen (75sec-) 1. W. Rosengrave (145 sec) 2, A. Flitcroft (105 sec) 3.
