As a sequel to a romantic dash to Gretna Green on March 14, 1932, when their parents pursued an eloping couple bv aeroplane, motor-car and express train, Mr Justice Eve gave away his granddaughter Joan, when she was married to Mr Thomas llanbury, a son of Mr C. Hanbury, M.P., at St Margaret’s, Westminster. The marriage was impossible at Gretna Green owing to lack of the residential qualification, and Mr Hanbury in the meantime went on a big game shooting expedition to Canada. Their formal engagement was announced in 1933. Mr Hanbury is now twenty years of age and his bride eighteen. Ex-King George of Greece attended the wedding and the Duke of Connaught sent a present.
