AN AMUSING FARCE.
Clifford Mollison Starred in “ Meet My Sister.”
“ White Ensign ” will be shown finally to-morrow night at the Theatre Royal. „ u “ Meet My Sister, a broad British farce which makes merry entertainment, and which is especially commendable for its fine acting, will head the new programme at the Theatre Royal on Saturday. The humour is more in the playing than in the plot, which is very involved, creating innumerable complications which give Clifford Mollison an ideal opportunity for a display of his talented acting. This actor has been often referred to as the typical “Bertie” of P. G. Wodehouse’s imagination, and in this particular part he gives a spirited and resourceful performance in his best vein. Mollison is cast as the penniless Lord Wilby, watching the prospects of his advantageous marriage with an heiress being wrecked by his past. He has two girls thrust upon his hospitality posing as his sisters, and the situation arising with the return of his real sister is characteristic of the farcical method of the film. Constance Shotter, winsome younger sister of the popular Winifred Shotter, of Aldwych fame, takes the leading feminine role. Jimmy Godden appears as Pogson. the butler, and Fred Duprez, Enid Stamp-Taylor, Helen Ferrers and Frances Dean are also prominent in an excellent cast. “Meet My Sister” is a very modern and a very daring comedy, and abounds in situations that appear to get more compromising, but perfectly explainable, as the story, goes on.
