Resolutions by P. T. Employees. (Special to the “ Star.”) ASHBURTON, July 18. The following resolution was passed at a well-attended meeting of the Ashburton sub-section of the Post and Telegraph Employees’ Association held on Tuesday evening:—“That in view of the facts (1) that fifteen 3-ears have elapsed since the Post and Telegraph Department was classified comprehensively; (2) that the volume and responsibilities of work have increased out of proportion to the salaries paid; (3) that despite the special taxes on it Post and Telegraph revenue can support more equitable salary schedules; and (4) that the general status of Post and Telegraph officers compares unfavourably with officers in o£her State Departments, the Post and Telegraph Employees’ Association calls on the Department and the Government to introduce new schedules and to proceed with a complete reclassification of the service without further delay and in order to do simple justice by the loyal and efficient staff.” Methodist Women’s Auxiliary. The Methodist Women’s Auxiliarygift afternoon was held yesterday, Sister Mildred presiding. The nomination of a representative to the South Canterbury District Synod was left in the hands of the executive. Musical and elocutionary items were contributed by the following:—Vocal duet. Mrs H. j. Constable and Miss M. Kelly; solos. Mr E. M'Farlane (Dunedin) ; guitar solo, Miss M. Carter; recitations. Misses L. Robinson and C. Topkins. A good assortment of goods for the Christmas box was handed in, and donations and cash amounted, to about £2 ss. Lodge Meetings. The fortnightly meeting of the Star of the East, Good Templar Lodge, was held last evening, when the C.T. (Brother Noel Leadley) presided. Two candidates were transferred from the juvenile lodge and one candidate was initiated. Arrangements were made for the fourth anniversary banquet to be held on August 4. At a meeting of the Court Ashburton, A.0.F., the C.R. (Brother J. Cannan) presided. Twelve members were reported sick and £9 sick pay was passed in their favour. Brothers R. W. Crowther and W. H. Amos were asked to arrange a short debate with the St Stephen’s Literary and Social Club on August 20
