ATHLETICS.

Sydenham Club. The sub-committee of the Sydenham Amateur Athletic Club appointed to make arrangements for the proposed long-distance road walking race met recently. Letters were received from Napier and Greymoyth inquiring for particulars. A discussion took place whether sufficient support would be forthcoming to ensure a successful race. It was decided to circularise all athletic clubs and similar sports bodies to ascertain what support was likely for the event. Those present were Messrs W. Calderwood (chairman), L. Willis, L. Hill and W. Dukes.
