DIPHTHERIA CASES
Slight Outbreak at South Brighton.
Two cases of diphtheria have occurred at the South Brighton school. Prompt action by the Health Department officers, however, has ensured that there is no danger of a spread of the disease. The illness of a member of the teaching staff was the first warning of the presence of the infection. Notification was made early, and Colonel F. W. W. Dawson, of the Department of Health, visited the school immediately and took swabs of teachers and pupils. Four pupils were found to be carriers, and were isolated and treated. One has since developed into a case. No other trace of the illness was fo%*nd, and there is no necessity for the school to close. The Health Department states that there is now no cause for any anxiety whatsoever.
