ERECTION OF WEIR IN AVON.
As.a result of a deputation from the Christchurch Beautifying Association interviewing the By-laws Committee of the City Council a letter was received last night by the association stating that the council could not see its way to provide the whole of the cost of a weir in the River Avon, near the Antigua Boat Sheds. However, the council was willing to make available the sum of' £7O, which was the balance remaining in the Floral Fete Fund, as soon r.s the association raised the remaining part of the .cost of the weir, about £l2O. It was decided that Messrs R. B. Owen and ]. Sturrock should form a deputation to the Christchurch Drainage Board regarding the weir,
