PLACED ON PROBATION.

Two youths who pleaded guilty to a number of charges of theft at Halswell on June 21 were placed on probation for twelve months by Mr E. D. Mosley, SAI., when they appeared in the Police C°urt this morning. William Eric Lintott, twenty-one years of age, and George Albert Morgan were jointly charged with the theft of good? valued at £S 15s, the property of S. R. Stewart. Lintott was charged with the theft of a rug valued at 10s, and an overcoat valued at 15s, both the property of persons unknown. Morgan was also charged with the theft of a bicvcle lamp valued at 10s.

Accused were convicted and discharged on the individual charges, and sentenced on the joint charge, a condition of their probation being that they should refrain from intoxicating liquor.
