CONCESSIONS TO CLUBS. Under the Rules of Racing, clubs arc expected to distribute in stakes a sum no less than 90 per cent of the average yearly net amount derived from che use of the totalisator during the immediately preceding three years. Power is given to the president of the Conference to permit a club to give a smaller amount in stakes if he is satisfied that the request is reasonable. During this season the necessary permission was granted to two clubs. They were the Pakuranga Hunt Club and the Takapuna Jockey Club, both in the Auckland district, and in each case the reason for granting the relief was due to the existing financial stringency.
