Mr P. J. M’Lean, Greymouth, arrived in Christchurch last evening. Messrs D. F. Meyer (Wellington), and W. Studer (Zurich, Switzerland) are staying at the United Service Hotel. Mr 11. J. Otley was re-elected chairman of the North Canterbury Hospital Board at its meeting to-day. The Rev K. Schollar has taken up his residence in New Brighton and will be formally licensed on Thursday as Priest-in-charge of the parish. Dr T. Fletcher Telford, District Health Officer, and Dr A. B. Pearson, were passengers from Greymouth by the express yesterday. Mr G. A. Taylor, New Zealand manager for The Prudential Assurance Company, and Mr Fred G. Dunn returned to Christchurch from the West Coast yesterday. Mr W. Turner was elected the first president of the Woolston branch of the New Zealand Poultry Producers’ Federation at the inaugural meeting last evening. * Mr James Stewart was elected a life member of the United Burgesses’ Association at the annual meeting. Mr Stewart has been secretary of the council of the association for three years. Mr H. Stevens was re-elected president for the third year in succession at the annual meeting of the Motor ! Body and Carriage Builders’ Association on Monday evening. Mr J. J. Hurley has been nominated by Messrs J. G. Brown, chairman of the Sydenham School Committee and L. B. Sloane, chairman of th e Addington School Committee, for re-election to the Canterbury Education Board. Messrs V. J. M’Callum and 11. J. Russell (Auckland), 11. A. Sargent (Nelson), A. Anderson and W. E. Byrd (Timaru) and R. L. Spedding (Dunedin) are guests at the New City Hotel. M. Leff Pouishnoff, the Russian pianist, and Mr Horace Stevens, the celebrated baritone, accompanied by their manager, Mr Hugo Larsen, will arrive in Christchurch on Tuesday next to stay at the United Service Hotel. At the meeting of the committee of the Royal Christchurch Musical Society on Saturday, a letter of congratulation was directed to be sent to the Hon Sir R. Heaton Rhodes, president of the societj>-, on his re-appoint-ment as a member of the Legislative Council.
